Maise

About Us

Maise evokes an effortless and unpretentious style. With one foot in tailoring and the other in street, taking extremes and pushing them together - masculine and feminine, tailored and street, dark and sweet.

Maise designer Claire Greaves began her career at the internationally renowned Top Shop. This influential period enabled her to strike out on her own when she returned to Australia - and so began Maise in 2006, the name ‘Maise’ stemming from a childhood nickname.

The first collection was built around a core of signature denim pieces.  The following seasons will see the progression of an expanding fashion line on top of the ever-popular denim range.

Maise has been featured in glossy publications including US Nylon, Sportswear Int. Cookie, Glamcult Paris, Australian Vogue, Marie Claire, Madison, In Style, The Melbourne Magazine. With features in pagesonline, Frankie, The Cool Hunter and Russh. Maise has been hailed as a label to watch.

"Australian are just getting it right with regards to the denim department, ie: Sass & Bide, 18th Amendment, Ksubi and now Maise” – ipapier

“Maise looks set to keep on growing” - Russh

“The collection is simplistic, but rich in quirky detailing” – Oyster Issue 70

“Wearable pieces, beautifully fabricated – think cosy cotton knits, sinuous jersey, semi matte silks, light metallic taffeta and denim with the perfect hint of stretch – are accented with bold, unfussy detailing like zips and flat 70s-style pockets.” Russh Natalie Shukur

"Greaves’ sweet and simple range of jeans, dresses, basic tops and frocks are just what the doctor ordered” – pages.com

“Already flying off the racks in Australia…its one brand you’re likely to hear more about in the future” – Cool Hunting

Maise has designed their current Autumn Winter 2009 collection with direct inspiration from horror films, especially Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Birds' and the character Laurie in 'Halloween'. The collection is called ‘Eerie Indiana'.

The new Spring Summer 'Team M' Collection will be showing the week before Australian Fashion Week... Watch this space!
